Role Purpose
The Secretary plays a central administrative and organisational role within ABC, ensuring effective communication, coordination of activities, and smooth functioning of the Executive Committee. The role supports the delivery of the association’s objectives while representing and engaging with its membership and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Governance & Administration
- Organise and coordinate regular Executive Committee meetings (e.g., via Teams).
- Prepare meeting agendas and supporting documentation in advance.
- Record accurate minutes of meetings, ensuring key discussions, decisions, and actions are clearly documented and circulated in a timely manner.
- Monitor and follow up on action points to ensure progress and accountability.
- Facilitate effective governance processes to ensure the association operates efficiently and transparently.
2. Communication Management
- Lead and manage internal and external communications on behalf of ABC.
- Produce and circulate newsletters to members and stakeholders.
- Disseminate key updates, ensuring timely and clear communication across the association.
- Liaise with partner organisations to share communications and strengthen collaborative networks.
3. Event Coordination
- Support planning and organisation of key events such as:
- Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Study Days and educational events
- Coordinate communication and logistics to maximise member engagement and attendance.
- Work with the Executive Committee to align events with strategic objectives.
4. Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key point of contact between ABC members, the Executive Committee, and partner organisations.
- Promote collaboration and strengthen relationships with external bodies.
- Encourage active participation from members in committees and initiatives.
5. Membership & Professional Development Initiatives
- Support programmes that enhance member engagement and development, including mentorship initiatives.
- Promote trainee involvement and participation within the Executive Committee.
- Contribute to initiatives that support the growth of the Breast Clinician workforce.
6. Strategic Support
- Assist in maintaining the visibility and national profile of ABC.
- Support leadership in delivering strategic priorities and ensuring member interests are represented.
- Encourage recruitment and active involvement in Executive roles to sustain the organisation.
